Winter Gardening & Composting Education at the Park

Come Learn Winter Gardening Skills at the Park | West Central Park Project

Good morning, good morning!

Looks like another wet weekend ahead here at the park. But that doesn’t stop us from getting out and getting busy! We have our regularly scheduled winter work party this Sunday from 11am to 1pm.

Weather permitting, we’ll be focusing on some pruning and cutting back plants. If you’re a gardening novice and would like to learn about winter plant maintenance, this would be a great opportunity to come learn and practice!

For those of you less enthusiastic about playing in the rain, we also have some bird and mason bee houses to paint as well as a couple other indoor projects that need attention. So no shortage of options! And remember, ALL volunteer efforts, no matter how big or small are incredibly valuable to the upkeep of the park! We love you volunteers! 🙂

COMPOST COMMITTEE UPDATES

With the start of the new year, we launched a new committee at the park focusing on efforts to expand our composting program in the park and surrounding neighborhood spaces. Whether you’re a seasoned composter or a complete beginner, come learn with us. We always have room for more to join!

And don’t forget to mark your calendars for Sunday, February 18 at 11am! During our work party that day, Heather Wood from OlySunrise Compost Concierge and our committee folks will be hosting a special composting event at the park! Here’s a hint… there will be barbecue! Stay tuned, more info on this coming in the next week!

Hope to see you around the neighborhood!
