What’s the WCP Buzz?

Well fall is here for good and what a beautiful one it has been! The leaf colors have been at their peak, and the rain, not too unbearable. The Park’s work parties each Sunday of the year have kept most all of the needed maintenance taken care of with volunteer tender loving care. Bundle up and come join our hearty ranks this Sunday during our Fall work party hours 11-1. This Sunday we will be working on picking up litter and tidying the grounds. Come out and meet your neighbors!

Construction has started in a big way on the properties next to the Park along Harrison. The ground has been broken for the new Park Side Cafe and Food Truck Court. Plans have been underway for over a year for this project and the start of the project has been exciting to say the least! All of the details for the kitchen are being worked out by the Park Side’s brilliant and talented new employees ! The cafe will have seating inside and up on the roof as well as some tables for the sidewalk. The 3 truck food court will have four picnic tables underneath a picnic shelter for year round dining too!

At 123 Cushing, progress is cruising along to create The Marie Lodging House! The Bed and Breakfast will have a turn of the century farm to table flair and will be a perfect place for some relatives to stay for holidays and special occasions! The new Innkeeper is an amazing Chef! Keep your eye on the block to stay up to date on the happenings and the openings!

The West Central Park, unlike the other businesses on the block, is owned by a non profit public charity, a 501c3. It is operated by a set of by laws and a Board of Trustees. This allows the Park to be owned and operated in every way by the community that it serves. Find out more about what the Park can do for you and what you can do for the Park by stopping by one of our weekly Sunday work parties!

See you around the block!
