The latest news from the corner of Harrison and Division includes 501c3 progress, alley vacation plans, Neighborhood Park designation progress, and steady Sunday Work Parties.
The 1023 Application for 501c3 is nearly complete for West Central Park. What remains is for current owner, Alicia Elliott, aka Westside Park Place, LLC, to deed the property to the non profit. The application will be filed and then the waiting begins! Check back for news on our 501c3 status over the next couple of months.
Meetings with Park and Rec and City officials are being set up to revisit and complete the process of getting Neighborhood Park designation, and an alley vacation. Plans for a cafe on site at West Central Park have changed to only having a picnic shelter, food truck pads, and bathrooms on site. This means that we don’t need to get a commercial designation which in turn requires ten paved parking spaces. The new plans will be updated on our website soon.
Our Work Parties have been a very steady force in keeping the park maintained. Only a few had to be cancelled due to weather, and the progress in beautifying the corner has been clear. Our next Volunteer Work Party will be held this Sunday, January 19th, from 10-1.
