We got lots going on at the West Central Park during these sunshiny beautiful summer days that we are enjoying in the Pacific Northwest! There will be a work party tomorrow, Sunday, July 9th from 10-2, our Monday Movie, Idiocracy on July 10th at 10pm, a West Oly Farmers’ Market on July 11th from 4-7 pm, a musical tribute to Bob Dylan, July 22nd from 7-9:30 pm, and our 4th Annual Artsplash July 29th from 12-7pm!
Our work session tomorrow from 10-2, will include regular maintentence, weed management, litter control and other general park chores. It’s a great way to get some sun and get to know your neighbors too! It is the weekly tender, love and care that comes from the hands and hearts of the entire community that keep this Park looking its very best at all times.
On Monday night we’ll have our next movie in the Monday Movie Madness series, Idiocracy at 10 pm complete with hot popcorn and hot tea! The movie takes place in 2005, and average in every way private Joe Bowers (Luke Wilson) is selected to take part in a secret military experiment to put him in hibernation for a year along with a woman named Rita (Maya Rudolph). The slumbering duo is forgotten when the base they are stored on is closed down and are left in stasis until 2505. When they finally wake up, they discover the average intelligence of humans has decreased so much that Joe is now the smartest man in the world! Get your blankies and lawn chairs and come on out for a festive night in the Park!
The next day, Tuesday, July 11th, don’t forget the weekly installment of fresh fruits and veggies and so much more at the West Olympia Farmers’ Market from 4-7 pm. The Market includes lots of ready to eat options for a quick lunch in the Park, and tons of fresh produce and groceries for your weekly shopping as well. Every Market includes a lively local music set for your shopping pleasure! Grab your baskets and bags and make it over to Market on Tuesdays!
On Saturday, July 22nd The International Bob Dylan Tribute Band will play a show at the park from 7-9:30 pm. The tribute will feature members from various Colorado String Bands. The traveling minstrels are currently on a national tour and a $10 donation is suggested.
On Saturday, July 29th The Fourth Annual Artsplash, music and art festival will come to West Central Park with musical performances from the Hinges, the Lemmings, the Magnificent Sanctuary Band and many others! There will be plenty of local art on display and for sale along with miscellaneous wonders from many different local talents. Artsplash will run from 12-7pm on July 29th, don’t miss it!
