Hey Park Peeps!
Gloria Dei Church will be hosting their 4th annual Easter Sunrise Service at West Central Park this Sunday, at 6 am. Gloria Dei, our Westside neighbor, has recognized since our early beginnings, that one of the Parks most important goals, is to offer a place for the community to gather. They took that goal to heart and have brought their congregation to the Park for the past four years for an early morning Easter service. Thanks for putting your trust in our vision Gloria Dei!
Don’t forget to put May 9th on your calendars for the third annual opening day of the West Olympia Farmers’ Market at the West Central Park! WOFM too has recognized that the West Central Park has open arms for our home grown community organizations and events, and has put their faith in us three years running. Help make them feel at home in the Park! The market will run each Tuesday from 4-7 pm.
The Parkside Cafe and Food Court project is nearing permit approval! Look for construction fencing that will go up first all around the food court and the Parkside Cafe lot. The construction will not interfere with Park events and will stop early on Market Days. During construction, expect only to enter the Park through 4th Avenue by car and park in the parking lot on the south end of the block. There is an exit out of the parking lot onto Division. Pedestrians, bike and bus riders can enter at many of the pathways that take you into the park from Harrison and Division. In the coming weeks, look for a call for volunteers as Park crew will be helping install tru-grid pervious paving on the southern half of the now vacated alley ahead of Market time.
As the dream of a pedestrian neighborhood shopping center grows up around the Park, the Park continues to hold true to its mission, to create a public, green space that can foster the recreational, educational and creative needs of the community in which it sits. Can you help us further our mission?
See you around the block Westies!
