Excitement is building ahead of the June Jubilee this Saturday, June 29th.
Word is spreading and the West Central Park is shaping up to be the place to be this weekend! We’ve been getting an amazing response from the neighborhood and the wider Olympia community. In fact, a couple local businesses have put up signs advertising the new park and the Jubilee:
Olympia Framemakers on the corner of Harrison and Cushing…
…and Above and Beyond Auto Care on Division at Harrison.
The Park also received some good news in the financial department today. Back when Alicia first bought the property, we were required to either pay a fee to start a water account or prove the existence of a previous account at the property. As those familiar with West Olympia can tell you, there hasn’t been a building on the site for 16 years, but there had been an account there at one time. After we wrote a letter to Tiffani King, an Engineering Permit Specialist with the City of Olympia, the City agreed to refund our deposit…to the tune of $3,200! This money will help a lot in the next phase of construction.
Finally, as you may have noticed, we added additional crushed granite to site on Tuesday to further aid with moisture absorption (which has definitely come in handy this week!) and to keep the surface level and uniform.
The Park is really starting to take shape and the June Jubilee is generating a lot of buzz around town. We’re looking forward to our first big event and to meeting even more Olympians at the Jubilee.
See you at the park!
