Adopt a Garden Bed, New Board Positions, and More!

Happy New Year Friends and Neighbors!

It’s been a wet one this week but we’re still getting out there for our weekly work party tomorrow from 11am to 1pm! Now that the new year is upon us, we’re looking to some renewed community involvement on the ground at the park and we have many ways for everyone to get involved!

Adopt a Garden Bed

Over the past year many of the garden beds have gone fallow and could use some extra love this winter and spring. One idea we’ve been thinking about is creating some space in the garden beds for community members to “adopt-a-bed” to plant and tend from week to week. If you’ve been looking for a little bit of earth to care for, please get in touch and come join us at the park this year!

Volunteer Bookkeeper

Do you have experience in bookkeeping? Our Board of Directors is urgently seeking a part-time volunteer bookkeeper to help manage our finances this year. The bookkeeper will work along with the Treasurer to perform data entry and process income and expenses for the park. The position would only require a few hours each month but would help our organization greatly. If this is a skill you have, please consider joining our team!

Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is a critical part of this organization. Without it, the park you’ve come to know and love simply wouldn’t be here. Being a board member is one way that you can help own the park and make sure you see the events that YOU want happening in our community. We currently have several open board positions available and we welcome all community members to join whether you are experienced or not! If you would like to sit in on a meeting and see how things run, please contact us to setup a time at our next board meeting.

Final Gala Recap

The final auction items from the gala have been picked up and the numbers have been pulled! All in all, we were able to net nearly $9000, just about half of our annual operating costs, with this single fundraiser! Way to go Olympia!!! Thank you again to everyone who participated, donated, and attended. We’re hoping to make this an annual event to help continue the efforts of the West Central Park Project well into the future!
